As part of our trip to Iowa for the wedding of Taran's cousin, we had to drive through Moline. After much persuasion, I finally convinced Taran that a quick side trip to the John Deere headquarters would be fun for all...especially Jake! We didn't know this until it was too late but there are multiple sites in and around Moline, Illinois dedicated to the John Deere Company. We, however, spent all of our time at the 1400 acre campus of the world headquarters where they have a very large atrium style building dedicated to the history of the company and the showcase of their line of equipment. We were able to view/climb into combines, earth movers, extremely large dump trucks, massive tractors, etc. It was a neat trip also because of the time of year. As we drove home from the visit, we were able to point out the equipment in use in the farms along the highway during the corn and bean fall harvest.
We made it!

If you ever make it to the Quad Cities, I HIGHLY recommend spending some time at the different John Deere attractions. And, I HIGHLY recommend planning your trip. Go to http://www.johndeere.com/ and click "John Deere Attractions" to see all the different things around Moline. There is the World Headquarters, John Deere Pavilion by the river (showcase of different products), John Deere Retail store, Historic homes of the founders of the company, etc. It is really neat and a significant piece of farming and American history.
