Trip to the Zoo!

This morning I got an email from my friend, Erica, asking if the boys and I wanted to join her and her kids for an impromptu trip to the zoo. Since the boys were starting preschool the following week and we had nothing planned for the day, I said sure and so we packed up the kids and took off. The weather was perfect (warm but not scorching) and, since most kids were already in school, the zoo was pretty quiet.

This was Andrew's very first trip to the zoo and Jake hadn't been since we lived in Chicago and went to Brookfield Zoo. Jake had a ton of fun checking out all the animals with Ryan and Julia and, for the most part, Andrew sat contently in his stroller taking it all in. We even took a train ride around the zoo, which the boys especially loved--Andrew just kept saying "beep, beep" the entire time (his words for anything that moves).

Thanks, Erica, for inviting us--it was a great day!!

Julia and Jake checking out the zebras.

Andrew trying to find the turtles. Those poor things were probably deaf after Andrew got done--he wouldn't stop banging on the glass!!

Julia, Jake and Andrew playing in the make-shift cave--nice break from the sun!

The kids--Julia, Jake, Andrew and Ryan--waiting patiently for the hippos to cruise by.

. . .and there he is!! It was so neat watching that thing swim by right in front of your face--he was huge!!
