The Big Parade

Today my hometown of Taylor Springs, Illinois celebrated its centennial birthday with a parade and other festivities. Since my mom was in charge of organizing the parade (which, for the record, was extremely well organized and had a great turnout--way to go, Mom), she and my dad decided to put together a small float for the kids to ride on. The float was in memory of the grocery store that my great-grandparents owned in Taylor Springs. My parents did a really great job putting it all together and, even though it was a bit chilly that day, the kids had a great time riding on it and throwing out candy to the spectators.

After the parade, the kids got to enjoy a cake walk, jump in the bounce houses, tour a helicoptor, have their face painted and play lots of fun. (Aunt Meg was in charge of the games which were a big hit--great job, Aunt Meg).
